New vice presidents join SMART's executive management team
Bill Jones will spearhead North American sales; Alan Richards to lead operations
CALGARY, Alberta --- May 24, 2005 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces the appointment of two new vice presidents. Bill Jones joins SMART's Calgary head office as vice president, North American sales, while Alan Richards assumes the role of vice president, operations. Jones and Richards join an established and strong executive management team at SMART at a time of significant growth and will help the team meet the positive challenges of growth.
With extensive business experience spanning two decades, Jones will be responsible for driving overall sales growth as well as the channel and direct sales strategies for all of SMART's products and services in North America. Jones brings experience in sales, marketing, operations and customer service with companies producing and distributing enterprise hardware and software applications, telecommunications products and services, and IT solutions. Prior to joining SMART, Jones held the position of president and CEO of the sales and marketing management consulting company Hunter Jones Solutions, Inc. He has also held executive or senior positions with well-known organizations such as Unisys Inc., AT&T Canada (now Allstream Inc.), Packard Bell Electronics, Inc. (now NEC Corporation), Merisel Inc. and Microwarehouse, Inc.
Richards comes to SMART from Gennum Corporation, a Canadian high-technology company that designs, manufactures and markets silicon integrated circuits (ICs), modules and thin-film hybrid microcircuit components for a variety of applications. He has more than 20 years of experience managing high-tech operations for such well-known companies as Intel Corporation and SGS Thompson Ltd. A recipient of several awards, Richards' areas of expertise include purchasing, engineering, operations management, facilities and maintenance management, change management, project management, financial control, logistics, health and safety, quality systems awareness and customer focus.
